Private Group Bookings
Private Group bookings run for approx. 2 - 2.5 hours and during this time you will have your own private teacher. We are happy to cater the pottery workshop to a specific theme for you ie - creating a mug for the office, vase making, baby shower event. etc. During your time in the studio you are also welcome to BYO or cater the event however you wish!
There are three options we could do for your group;
The first option is a workshop in hand building (not the pottery wheels) where everyone makes one piece each: sculpture, salad bowl, pot plant, vase, the possibilities are endless! Then we ask students to mark the bottom with a glaze colour and we do all the rest for you. That way your group can have a 'one off' clay experience, we do the rest for you, and you can come collect from the studio a few weeks later.
The second option is a decorating / painting workshop. In this workshop each person chooses a piece of bisque ware pottery to paint and decorate as they choose. We provide special high firing underglaze paints for you and we will clear glaze the pieces and fire them ready to collect at a later date.
The third option is on the pottery wheels! Please know we have 10 wheel in Newstead and 12 wheels in Morningside, so this is limited in seating. Within this workshop a teacher will demonstrate the basics of wheel work and each person will make 1/2 pieces in which the studio will fire and glaze for you, ready to collect a few weeks later.
The prices for the workshops are as such:
Hand Building Workshop - $140 per person
Underglaze Decorating Workshop - $120 per person
Pottery Wheel Workshop - $180 per person
This price includes a private teacher, all materials, clay, glaze etc. plus for your work to be fired, glazed and re-fired by our staff after the event.
There is a 10 person minimum for Private Group Bookings. Or if you are still happy to pay the minimum fee, that is fine also.
