Jarrod Cahill

Through my practise of wheel thrown and hand built ceramics, I create pieces that reflect elements of the natural environment as well as contemporary industrial spaces in which pottery if often made. The acceptance of imperfection and organic aesthetic is a vital part of my work. My process uses a variety of clay bodies to create irregular forms, merged with a combination of freely layered glaze colours. Through the use of an alternative blend of techniques and visual elements, viewers are invited to disregard preconceptions and instead undertake a new and emergent approach to consuming ceramics.

imogen Webb

Imogen wants to support people to live well, so they can do what makes them happy. For her, that is ceramics. She works in public health and has previously used clay to engage community in health promotion initiatives.

Imogen’s work is commonly wheel thrown and altered. Sometimes, this involves manipulating overall shape, for example, adding a pinch to what her friends call “thumb mugs”. More recently, it has involved experimenting with surface decoration, like painting or trailing slip. It is often driven by a passing inspiration or a desire to learn a new technique.

Imogen has worked with clay since her first class at Mas & Miek in mid-2018. She was quickly obsessed, expanding and refining her practice by attending many classes at Mas & Miek and externally. In 2019, she set up her own home studio. She is currently studying a Bachelor of Design at QUT.
