12 Week Course - Beginner to Accomplished on the Wheel

Due to popular demand, we are introducing a 12 Week Wheelwork Course in 2026!

Within this course, you can expect to start as a complete beginner and finish feeling accomplished in a new creative craft. What’s more, you with walk away with an extensive collection of hand made work, and have built stronger relationships with your co students and teacher. Our biggest feedback we receive at the end of our 6 Week courses was students (and teachers!) saying they did not wish to part with the group so soon, hence why we decided to introduce this new longer course.

The first half of the course will be slightly more structured, focusing on learning the fundamental techniques of using the pottery wheel, allowing each student ample time to feel comfortable in the initial forms of bowls, cups, dishes etc. Then as a group and individually, the teacher will branch into ‘projects’ that students may have a certain interest in. Whether it is your new favourite sugar jar, butter bell, incense holder - you are welcome to bring ideas to the course and your teacher will guide you (and others) through making that form, introducing new making techniques along the way.

The course will have a glazing session at week 6 and at week 12 of the course in which students will be able to finish their work with signature Mas & Miek Glazes. The course price of $1,220 for 12 weeks includes all clay, materials, glaze and firing costs.

This course is offered in both our Newstead and Morningside studio.

Duration - 12 Consecutive weeks. 

Courses meet once a week on your chosen class time. Classes are 3 hours in length, so course consists of 12 x 3 hour classes.

Please note:

If you are booking into this course you are committing to be able to attend for the duration of the course. The studio will always try to arrange a make up class with you if you are unable to attend a week, but this may not always be available.

Unfortunately, due to Workplace Health and Safety Regulations our studio is a strictly ADULTS ONLY workplace. We are happy to make exceptions for teens, if they are accompanied by an adult also booking into the course. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Cancellation Policy: We have a strict 48 hour cancellation policy on all courses. These courses can book out weeks in advance, so to ensure a fair booking system we ask for more than 48 hours notice so we can offer the seat to another student.

If cancelled before 48 hours the course will be credited back onto your account to book in another time.
